Coronavirus lockdown restrictions eased further this week meaning non-essential retail have reopened their doors.

Local businesses showed their excitement by taking part in an uplifting video showing the reopening of the high street.

Created by the Marlow Chamber the video highlights the owner's delight in being able to welcome customers back.

For over 60 years, the Marlow Chamber has provided the local business community with an opportunity to meet, support each other and stay informed, and work with like-minded individuals and organisations.

There were over ten local businesses involved in the filming of the high street reopening.

Runners' Retreat’s Brian Bower said: “It is great to be back.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming all our local runners into our shop.”

The Mooch Boutique Marlow owner added: “I’ve missed all our chats and catching up with all your news.

“I can’t believe it has been so long!”

Whilst Dorata hairdressers added: "We have got to kickstart the high street again and it is all down to us”

Other businesses featured in the video were Sara Hughes Home LTD, Hewetts of Marlow, Dorata Marlow, Angel & Rocket, Harleyford Golf Club, and The Duke

Whilst Fix Your Lemons, The Timeless Dimension Company, and Aerial Film and Photo - Media Production helped with the production.

Tamra Booth, Managing Director of Sorbon Estates, has also stated her relief that stores can reopen and believes that Marlow residents will continue to show their support to local businesses.

She said “We are both relieved and excited for our retail tenants as stores re-open in line with the latest guidelines.

“Lockdown has been challenging for many businesses, but the support that locals have given local businesses throughout the pandemic has been incredible and has further highlighted how amazingly supportive the Marlow community is.

With Marlow’s high street still a popular destination during the restrictions the opening of stores will be a breat of fresh air to the area.

Tamra continued: “Marlow has been surprisingly active in terms of footfall during the restrictions, but it will be a delight for so many to see the High Street shops busy and open again.

“Our team have been behind the scenes preparing for the re-opening of shops in Marlow and we cannot wait to see our valued retailers back in business, as well as welcome new stores, including Nova Fine Art, Joseph, and Clarendon Fine Art's second store.

“Phase 1 of our regeneration of Liston Court has also completed in the nick of time ready for April 12th, and we really hope residents like the transformation.”

Gyms, nail salons, hairdressers, swimming pools, libraries, and zoos have all also been able to reopen this week.

Pub gardens and cafes have also been busy as outdoor hospitality as the easing of restrictions continued.

The council celebrated the day by putting up colourful bunting across the town centre.

Marlow Mayor Richard Scott said: “This is a small celebration of another milestone being achieved in the easing of lockdown — and a bright and cheery welcome back for shoppers to Marlow.”

There will also be free car parking in council car parks in the town as part of Buckinghamshire council's 'Welcome Back Bucks'.
