A Marlow school has recently achieved its first-ever ‘Green Flag’ award, the highest accolade awarded by Eco-schools England.

Eco-Schools is a seven-step framework that thousands of schools around the world use to introduce environmental actions such as climate change or plastic pollution.

To earn a ‘Green Flag’ award involves an assessor visiting the school to meet your Eco-committee and assess the work you have done to meet criteria.

Not letting the pandemic get in the way, a virtual Eco team of over 30 students and staff members met at St Peter’s Catholic Primary school fortnightly during lockdown to discuss ways to help the environment.

Year three pupil, Dexter Piney said: “I think that as a school we’ve come a long way working for this Green Flag.

“We’ve formed an eco-team, created an eco-code & have litter pickers in the playgrounds.

“The fact that we’ve actually achieved our goal is amazing!

“Every day, when I walk into school, I feel so proud that we are a Green Flag School.”

The staff and children at St Peter’s have been working hard to retain their bronze and silver awards but are now delighted they have achieved the top award, flying a green flag above the school.
