With news this week that the Gold Hill Baptist Church in Chalfont St Peter could be converted into flats as part of a huge residential development in the village, we unearthed some pictures from the area.

This first photo shows the church, in Gold Hill Common, in April 1975.

The brick building has not changed at all in the past 46 years and the streetscape is also still recognisable.

This second picture has been taken circa 1920 and shows a view from the common of the Jolly Farmer pub, and buildings to the north in Gold Hill Common.

The road itself has changed but the pub still stands opposite the baptist church.
