CAFFE Uno changed colours faster than a chameleon after shaking off its green for a Mediterranean lime only to change again soon after.

The Italian eatery in Marlow High Street provoked an angry response from the town after decorators painted the facade of the listed building various shades of lime, pale green and brown.

Staff at the continental caf brought in the painters after the chain's managing director commented that the facade could do with a lick of paint.

Keith Stuart, managing director, said: "Essentially it was just a desire to do what the boss said."

He added: "The last thing we want to do is upset our customers."

John Burnham, a member of the Marlow Group, was stopped in his tracks as he walked past the multi-coloured facade on Wednesday.

He said: "I was horrified to see it but it is so encouraging to see they have responded to the problem so quickly."

Mr Burnham contacted Wycombe District Council and an officer visited the site.

Following the visit the caf agreed to return the frontage to its original colour.
