A booze and donut-loving thief has been sentenced after he stole from Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Aldi and Greggs in Aylesbury during an eight-week spree.

Dale McGinn, aged 32, of Tring Road, in Aylesbury, was given a four-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months at a hearing at Buckinghamshire Magistrates Court on Friday.

McGinn had pleaded guilty to 18 separate charges of theft from a shop, all of which took place in Aylesbury between March 14 and April 30.

All of these offences took place at Aldi, Sainsbury's, Morrisons or Greggs in the town.

Amongst his offences, McGinn stole 12 bottles of Glenfiddich Whiskey from Morrisons, worth a total of £480.

On his spree, he also stole 12 jam donuts and a baguette from Greggs, worth around £8.

McGinn stole £129-worth of fresh meat from Sainsbury's on one occasion, and electric toothbrushes and nicotine patches from Morrisons worth £300 on another.

Across all 18 offences, the offender stole at least 37 bottles of alcohol, the majority of which were whiskey and spirits.

McGinn committed all of these offences while he was already serving a community order for an arson offence in Aylesbury in 2019, when he destroying a plastic wheelie bin.

As well as the suspended sentence, McGinn will also have to pay £655 compensation.
