A Slough councillor has been selected as the Labour candidate for the forthcoming Chesham and Amersham by-election.

Councillor Natasa Pantelic currently serves as the Cabinet Member for Social Care and Public Health at Slough Borough Council.

Natasa Pantelic also serves the Cippenham Meadows ward in Slough.

The by-election will be held in Chesham and Amersham after former MP Dame Cheryl Gillan sadly passed away over the Easter weekend following a long illness.

Natasa Pantelic wrote on Twitter this morning: A huge thank you to the Chesham and Amersham Labour Party for choosing me as their candidate for the upcoming election. 

"I’m delighted and looking forward to the campaign.

"I’d like to pay tribute to the late Dame Cheryl Gillan for so many years’ of service to the people of Chesham and Amersham and my thoughts are especially with her family and friends as we go through the election campaign over the next few weeks.

"I’m looking forward to addressing the key issues in this campaign, particularly around housing, development, and infrastructure in Chesham and Amersham. 

"I’m hoping for a good-spirited campaign and I’ll be working hard for every vote."

Peter Fleet is set to stand for the Conservative party, with the Liberal Democrats selecting Sarah Green as their candidate.

Carolyne Culver has been selected by the Green Party as their candidate.
