A man has died after being hit by a driver who did not stop at the scene in High Wycombe last night. 

Hughenden Avenue was cordoned off at around 10.30pm on Thursday after the male pedestrian, 56, was hit by a car. 

The driver of the car, which is believed to be a Vauxhall Astra type vehicle, did not stop at the scene.

The man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene despite a heavy emergency services presence. 

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said no one has yet been arrested but the incident is being investigated. 

The man's loved ones have been made aware of what happened.
