Fast food chain German Doner Kebab is opening up a restaurant in High Wycombe.

The chain, which opened its first store in Berlin back in 1989 and describes itself as the "undoubted leader in the kebab market", is going to be opening its doors in White Hart Street.

The unit it is going to be opening up in is the former Shoe Zone shop, which relocated into the Eden Shopping Centre back in 2019.

As well as their own version of a doner kebab, their menu also offers doner quesadillas, doner burgers, and doner lahmacun wraps, doner spring rolls, nachos, chilli cheese bites and fries.

German Doner Kebab has a string of restaurants around the UK, with the closest to High Wycombe being Slough and Reading.

Plans submitted to Buckinghamshire Council to replace the "dilapidated" Shoe Zone shopfront were given the go-ahead on May 17.

It will have new signage and the entry doors will be moved slightly to the right, with plans for high bar seating inside.

Applicants say the new restaurant opening will create around 30 jobs for people in the local area.

It is not clear yet when German Doner Kebab will open its doors, but it comes amid an exciting time for High Wycombe town centre.

In White Hart Street alone, Creams dessert parlour and Roberto's cafe and restaurant have opened this year - despite major setbacks for the high street because of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Wimpy made a welcome return to White Hart Street in November last year.
