Police were called to a road in Lane End this week amid reports a "racially-offensive item" was being displayed.

Officers went to Simmons Way on Monday, May 24, because someone had reported another person for displaying something offensive.

Police said the item - the details of which have not been released to the public - was not on display anymore.

After speaking the officers, the owner "appreciate the offence that could be caused" and agreed not to display it again.

They accepted a community resolution for a public order offence.

Community resolutions are usually used when someone who has committed a crime agrees to make amends for their actions.
