A burglar has been jailed for more than a year for trying to break into a house in Princes Risborough after travelling there by train.

Alex Cabey, 36, of Ryland Close, Leamington Spa, tried to get into a house in Manor Park Avenue, Princes Risborough, by smashing a window with a brick.

It is believed he was disturbed by a neighbour who heard the breaking glass.

Cabey was then identified via CCTV. Police said nothing was taken from the property.

He was arrested on 5 June and then charged on 6 June. Cabey pleaded guilty to one count of attempted burglary at Aylesbury Crown Court and was sentenced to 17 months behind bars.

Investigating officer, PC Richard Tulloch, based at High Wycombe police station, said: “Cabey used the rail network to travel some considerable distance to commit this offence.

“I hope his conviction sends a message to those who would look to inflict these type of crimes upon innocent people that Thames Valley Police will not tolerate offences of this nature and seek to bring offenders to justice.”
