Last week’s Nostalgia pages by Mike Dewey looked at Bourne End and when it became populated with shops.
For Then and now this week, we take a closer look at some of the stores from the 1970s.
This first photo shows shops on the northern side of the western end of The Parade, which was built in the 1950s.
The building is still familiar but the shops have changed.

Here we see the shops in the Royalty Parade in 1970, with the confectionery shop Donald in the foreground next to the premises which was previously the Royalty cinema.
What used to be Donald is now a carpets and beds shop.
