Bucks Fire and Rescue have provided another statement following a huge fire that had broken out at Cressex Business Park.

In the early afternoon of Thursday, June 3, more than 100 999 calls were made to the fire department after several residents in and around the area noticed black smoke engulfing the clear blue Buckinghamshire skies.

In all, 16 appliances and crews from Buckinghamshire, Royal Berkshire, and Oxfordshire, along with nine officers attended the scene to try and tackle the blaze.

High Wycombe resident, Mark Fawkes, has said: “This would have been minutes after it happened, it turns out. It got thicker and blacker as we got closer.”

Residents were advised to avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed because of the smoke plume, whilst relief crews started to take over later in the afternoon and during the evening.

Seven crews and five officers were at the scene at 8pm.

• A garage storing eight cars. The garage collapsed and the cars were destroyed.

The fire also destroyed the fencing of nearby homes.

Firefighters used five main jets, four sets of breathing apparatus, two turntable ladders and a water tanker.

Group Commander Paul Scanes from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “The fire and rescue service was called at 13.40 to a commercial property fire.

“On arrival, crews were confronted by a well-developed fire which was spreading to surrounding buildings.
