A crash closed off the M25 near Bucks this morning with huge delays still being reported in the area.

Emergency services are on the anti-clockwise carriageway between J17 (Maple Cross) and J16 (M40 interchange) to rescue a person from one of the vehicles involved.

Traffic is said to be moving at 10mph approaching the scene, with Highways England reporting delays of just under an hour on top of usual journey times.

News of the crash and closure were tweeted by Highways England just before 8.20am.

They wrote: “The M25 in Buckinghamshire is currently blocked anti-clockwise between J17 and J16 due to a collision. TVP Roads Policing are in attendance.

“There are currently 30-minute delays. Please allow extra time for your journey.”

A second tweet at 8.44am added: “Traffic has been released on M25 in Buckinghamshire anti-clockwise between J17 and J16 following a collision.

“TVP Roads Policing remain on scene. Traffic is currently passing in lane four. Please allow extra time for your journey.”

A spokesman said at 9.23am: “Traffic is moving at less than 10 mph approaching this M25 incident and there are just under an hour of delays above usual journey times.

“Emergency services are working at the scene to extract a person from one of the vehicles involved. Further updates to follow when available.”

All lanes have now reopened, with Highways England saying while delays remain, traffic should start to ease soon.
