A member of the House of Lords, a parish council chairman and a top police officer who has investigated brutal murders are all among the amazing Bucks residents who have been recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours.

Some of the incredible achievements of those who live in the county have been outlined as the annual birthday honours are revealed.

The Earl Howe, a House of Lords front bencher, has been recognised for his political and parliamentary service, while Peter Beirne, a Thames Valley Police investigator who has led the teams trying to solve the murder of Radnage nurse Janet Brown, has been acknowledged with an MBE for services to policing.

Meanwhile, Bourne End volunteer Daska Emery has been awarded an BEM for starting the Bourne End SOS group in response to Covid-19.
