Plans for a new dentist surgery in a Bucks village have been given the green light.

Developers will convert the first and second floors of 3 Market Place, in Chalfont St Peter, into the dental practice, and demolish the a “dilapidated” single storey pitched roof workshop and external metal staircase.

According to the planning statement, three dentists will come together with an existing patient list of 5,000 to serve the area.

Developers say the practice will “improve dental access issues by bridging the gap and providing additional dental services currently unavailable to the local public”, and will provide dental services outside of “typical NHS hours” with extended opening hours, including evenings and weekends.

They also said the surgery will create “investment in the local area” and “boost the local economy with job creation and help rejuvenate the high street”.

An NHS dental lab is expected to be set up within the practice to support local NHS dentists to access low cost dental restorations.

There will be two designated parking spots, with one allocated for dental staff and the other a disabled space, with all staff members also given the option to buy parking spots in the Co-op car park at a cost of £40 a month.

Developers wrote in the planning statement online that the creation of the surgery would make way for a total of 14 full time staff in the near future, with immediate jobs created for two dentists, two dental nurses, one dental hygienist, a dental technician and a receptionist.

They added it would also bring new and existing patients into Chalfont St Peter and “encourage greater footfall to the high street”.

In the decision letter, the council’s planning officers have given the surgery permission to open between 9am and 7pm Monday-Friday, 9am and 5pm on Saturdays and 10am-4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays “to safeguard the amenities of nearby and future occupiers from noise”.
