Two developments underway in Bucks will add a total of 370 new homes to the county’s housing stock.

Pictured above (second photo) is Alan Connolly, site manager at Deanfield Homes’ development in Ickford where the Gerrards Cross company established in 2016 is laying the foundations for 66 homes in a selection of two, three and four bedroom designs.

The village development is ten minutes’ drive from Thame town centre and six miles from Haddenham and Thame Parkway station – well placed for commuters.

The landscaping of the 3.2 acre site will include a fully equipped play area well as somewhere for villagers to sit and enjoy the view.

It’s the largest development so far for Deanfield and the second the company has built in Bucks. Managing director Peter Blades says the position is ideal –rural but not remote.

Meanwhile, over in far-from-remote Beaconsfield – the town which has been on the map since the days of stage coaches and highwaymen – Bewley Homes and Inland Homes are creating a whole new community in “an English country estate setting”.

It’s being built in 100 acres at the entrance to the Old Town. The site was previously used by the Ministry of Defence language school. It was sold by the MoD to Inland, the Beaconsfield-based regeneration specialist developer, in 2014.

Bewley’s involvement dates from last year when it purchased from Inland 147 plots for the initial two phases at Wilton Park. Unfortunately, the planned celebration to mark the start of construction at Wilton Park last month had to be cancelled at the last minute due to torrential rain.

The first phase of 94 homes is now underway.

In total 304 homes will be built, including 79 designated as affordable – the majority will be marketed at open market prices.

As well as new homes, the development designed by Adam Architecture will also include a further 46 properties once used as married quarters for service families and 18,622 sq ft of buildings other than houses or flats.

The amenities for the local community as a whole, not just the residents who come to live on the new development, are wide ranging.

They include the purpose-designed buildings for the already well established nursery school, also a café pavilion, permanent sports pitches, changing rooms, the whole kit and caboodle.

These two developments in Bucks will be a contribution towards achieving the Government’s target of adding 300,000 homes to the nation’s housing stock each year by the mid 2020s.

Peter Carpinelli, Bewley’s operations director, described Wilton Park as a flagship site for his company.

Stephen Wicks, Inland Homes chief executive, said the scheme was “the jewel in our crown.”

He added: “We are delighted construction is now underway after several years of consultation with residents and the council.

“We look forward now to receiving approval for our detailed plans for the Relief Road so that in parallel we can start its construction.”
