Allegations of HGV drivers ‘defecating by the roadside’, using a lane as a “lorry park”, and tearing up a highway have been levelled at the council.

Bucks Council has been hit with claims truckers are allegedly treating Willets Lane in Denham like their own lorry park, after a member of the public complained the use of the road by HGVs had ramped up in the past two years.

They claimed HGV drivers are using the verge as a toilet, that they block an entire lane, and that potholes have got worse.

They recorded some activity using a dash cam, and said they fear their grandchildren will witness a trucker ‘urinating or defecating in the bushes’ when riding in the car.

When they complain, they claim Bucks Council “pass the buck”.

“Willets Lane has, in the last two years, seen more and more lorries using the lane as a lorry park,” they said.

“Drivers are urinating and defecating in the bushes and leaving their rubbish. They block one side of the lane.

“More and more potholes have also appeared.”

They added: “If my grandchildren are in the car, I’m worried they will see drivers urinating or defecating in the verges.

“I think it’s just because they can get away with it, and the council just pass the buck saying they have no parking restrictions there, ‘call the police’, or ‘put another complaint in’.

“It’s a worry every time you use the road, especially at night.”

They also said: “I complained to the council, and they said they can’t do anything. Sixty mph in a dead-end lane, no streetlights and no pavement, all made more dangerous by allowing HGVs to park.”

Bucks Council was approached for comment.
