A wanted woman has been found in Amersham after she was caught stealing Jack Daniels whiskey from Tesco.

Alexandra Chis, aged 34, was arrested in Amersham on Friday, June 26, after she was caught by security staff in Tesco attempting to steal four bottles of Jack Daniels, worth £105.

When police arrived at the shop, they found that Chis, of Pickfords Gardens in Slough, had a wallet which had been reported stolen by a man from Surrey in March.

After identifying the offender, police also discovered that she was subject to a ‘fail to appear’ warrant in relation to an offence she had committed in Beaconsfield last year.

On March 19, 2020, Chis was arrested in the Sainsbury’s car park in Maxwell Road after officers found she was carrying a black Stanley knife.

A warrant was issued after she failed to appear at court following the offence.

Appearing at Wycombe Magistrates Court on Monday, Chis pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article, handling stolen goods and theft from a shop.

According to the prosecutor, in Tesco she was “clearly seen” putting the bottles of whiskey in her handbag.

Ms Chis’s defence lawyer told the court that her client was struggling with a drug addiction, and that in Beaconsfield she had “simply forgot” that the knife was in her bag and she had “no intent to threaten”.

Magistrates agreed to adjourn the hearing so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared ahead of sentencing, which could take place either at Magistrates’ court or at a crown court.

Chis was granted conditional bail and is due to next appear in court on Tuesday, August 10.
