A fresh appeal into the death of a “popular” doctor who died 55 years has been made to try and solve her murder – amid unfounded rumours of new leads.

Dr Helen Davidson, a respected figure in the town, was found in Hodgemoor Wood on November 10, 1966 - 12 hours after being last seen.

Her tragic and sudden death was the focus of a book, ‘Injured Parties: Solving the Murder of Dr Helen Davidson’, by Monica Wheeler, and despite huge publicity and a string of investigations, her murder was never solved.

There have been rumours circulating locally that ‘new leads’ into the case had been discovered - but when approached by the Bucks Free Press, Thames Valley Police denied the case had moved forward.

The Thames Valley Police Cold Case section said: “The murder of Dr Helen Davidson remains unsolved.
