A driver was arrested for drink-driving and another was caught doing 108mph on a dual carriageway as part of a police crackdown in Bucks this week.

Officers carried out a road check on Risborough Road, in Stoke Mandeville, where more than 10 vehicles were stopped and checked for “morning after football drink-drivers”.

One of the motorists failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

Thames Valley Police’s Roads Policing team said the driver then blew a lower reading of 50ug in custody just after 6am yesterday (Monday) and will now be charged to court.

The legal drink-drive limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

And in another, unrelated incident, a driver was caught doing 108mph on the A5 southbound in Milton Keynes.

He reportedly had a swig of beer as his “mouth was dry”, TVP said.

Officers said in a social media post: “These are shocking speeds considering the road was damp and he allegedly had swig of beer as his ‘mouth was dry’.

“He passed the breath test but reported to court where he faces serious repercussions for his driving.”

It comes after England heartbreakingly lost to Italy in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday, with the latter winning 3-2 in a tense penalty shootout.
