A High Wycombe road had to be cordoned off yesterday evening after a water main burst.
Water shot metres into the air when the underground pipe split in Rowan Avenue just before 9pm on Monday night.
Eyewitnesses said the jet of water was reaching the height of the rooftops.
Fire crews were called to assist at the scene at 8.56pm, with High Wycombe firefighters setting up a cordon.
The incident was left with Thames Water to fix.
