Inconsiderate parents are blocking disabled bays "almost every day" at Wycombe Leisure Centre, the mother of a disabled swimmer has said.

The parents of swimmers who are part of Wycombe District Swimming Club (WDSC) have reportedly been asked before to stop parking in disabled bays at the Marlow Hill leisure centre, but the problem is still going on.

It has left one parent of a disabled girl frustrated because it leaves them unable to park to get her to sessions.

Photos the frustrated mum took appear to show vehicles taking up the disabled bays without any Blue Badges on display.

She told the Bucks Free Press something needs to be done to stop the inconsiderate parking.

She said: "Almost every day parents of swimmers who swim for WDSC are parking in disabled bays without disabled badges - stopping disabled swimmers being about to park.

"Our daughter is a member of WDSC Enable for disabled swimmers, but when raised, the club just send out an email asking them to stop.

"The sports centre say it’s not their responsibility and Bucks Council have sold a contract to a company who doesn’t seem to enforce it."

John Reed, the chairman of WDSC, said it is the behaviour of a "few" people who are picking up children from different activities at the centre, but added that the car park is run as a private facility.

He said: "The club is disappointed at the behaviour of a few people blocking these bays when picking up children from various activities at the leisure centre.

"As well as the impact on the general public we have a number of swimmers who have disabilities and need to use the disability parking bays to attend our sessions.

"Unfortunately, we have no measures we can take to enforce the correct use of the bays. The car park is run as a private facility.

"The parents are not members of our club, and we cannot exclude children on the basis of the behaviour of their parents. We have raised the matter with the parents and the car park operator.

"As a club we seek to be as inclusive as possible, and we are proud to have created a successful disability swimming section which allows has allowed Wycombe based swimmers to participate in para swimming competitions up to a national level.

"The club will continue to push for the correct use of the bays for the sake of all who need and have a right to park there."
