A man has been charged with causing the death of two cyclists more than a year after the fatal crash.

Damien Natale, 52, and Andrew Coles, 56, both much-loved cyclists from Haddenham, were killed in a crash involving a Volkswagen Golf on the A40 Wycombe Road in Studley Green on June 1, 2020.

More than a year later, Clifford Rennie, 60, of Wantage Road in Wallingford, has been charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving.

The cyclists, who were described as "great friends" who organised a number of charity bike rides together, were reportedly returning home to Haddenham at the time of the fatal smash.

Just after their deaths, Damien and Andrew's families said their "hearts are broken".

Andy's family described him as a "class act", adding: "Great guys leave gaping holes and no words come close to expressing the devastation this tragedy brings to all Andy’s family and friends."

Damien's loved ones said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Damien, our loving husband, doting father, cherished grandad, adored son and loyal friend.

“He was the one man you could always rely on and he touched the hearts of everyone he met."

Rennie is due to appear at Wycombe Magistrates' Court on August 20.
