Around 10 hectares of freshly caught hay caught fire from an alleged barbecue in North Buckinghamshire.

At around 4.10pm, firefighters from Newport Pagnell Fire Station, Broughton Fire Station, West Ashland Fire Station, Aylesbury Fire Station, Harrold Fire Station, and Banbury Fire Station in Oxfordshire attended the blaze in River Meadow, Olney.

The fire was in two adjacent fields, with the firefighters extinguishing the fire by using haydrags, beaters and water from the River Great Ouse.

There were no reported injuries 

The last crew left the scene at about 8pm, and according to Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue, the cause is ‘currently believed to be a barbecue’.

There were no reported injuries from the incident.
