Taking a dip in an outdoor pool to cool down sounds pretty appealing on a day as hot as this one.

With temperatures hitting 29 degrees again today, we've rounded up some of the best pools, lidos and waterparks that are either in, or close to, Buckinghamshire.

1. Wycombe Rye Lido

Right in the heart of High Wycombe is the lido at The Rye.

Operated by Fusion Lifestyle, Wycombe Rye Lido boasts an outdoor main pool and children's pool, as well as grass and terraced sunbathing areas.

In April, it was found to be one of the most secluded outdoor pools in the UK based on research by ShowersToYou.co.uk.

2. Chesham Open Air Pool

Take a dip in Chesham's open air pool to cool down. Not that you really need it right now, but like Wycombe Lido, it's also heated, so you don't just have to head down when the weather is sweltering.

Until July 26, the pool is only open for competent lane swimmers, but they are planning to be "back to normal" with increased numbers and family swims after then.

3. Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex, Uxbridge

The 1930s lido has been restored to its former glory and has a Grade II listed 50m outdoor pool that was reopened in 2010.

It also boasts cascade fountains at both end and a shallow splash pool for children.

It's not too far outside of Buckinghamshire - head down the M40 to the Swakeleys Roundabout and it's just a few minutes down the road at Gatting Way.

4. Oxford Wet 'n' Wild, Berinsfield, Oxfordshire

Located on the picturesque Queenford Lakes, this incredible aqua park offers fun for all ages.

As well as an impressive inflatable obstacle course, you can also hire paddleboards and kayaks, or relax at the lakeside cafe.

It's half an hour away from Marlow Hill in High Wycombe if you take the M40 up to junction 7.

5. Benson Waterfront, Benson, Oxfordshire

Another one that's about half an hour away from High Wycombe up the M40 - Benson Waterfront is on the banks of the River Thames.

A little bit different to the other places on the list, you can hire kayaks, canoes and boats for the day, or chill out at the Waterfront cafe and just enjoy the sights of the glistening blue river.
