Firefighters believe that a tree which caught fire might have been struck by lightning.

In the evening of Tuesday, July 20, several parts of England experienced some heavy showers and thunderstorms following a recent heatwave that has taken over the country.

In some areas of the country, the sweltering weather has reached temperatures of around 32°C.

However, at around 10.05pm on the same day [Tuesday, July 20], firefighters from West Ashland Fire Station attended Simpson Drive in Milton Keynes, as there were reports of a tree that had caught alight.

The emergency workers used one hose reel to put out the blaze, with Bucks Fire and Rescue revealing that the tree may have caught fire from a suspected lightning strike.

There were no reported injuries.
