A paedophile who attempted to have sexual relations with two teenage girls by grooming them for over a year has said he is “looking for help.”

On Monday, Robert Kiedis was sentenced to three years in prison and added to the sex offenders register for life after he admitted to grooming two girls under the age of 16 in the Aylesbury Vale area.

Kiedis, 43, who had also committed child sex offences in 2013, also admitted two counts of failing to comply with the sex offenders register notification requirements.

Before the judge delivered his sentence on Monday, defence lawyer Kim Preston, representing Kiedis, made a plea to the court on her client’s behalf.

He told the judge that the previous sex offenders programme he was on was not detailed enough and that he would like to be put on a more detailed course because he is “looking for help.”

Ms Preston said: “He has been up front about his offending, he has expressed clear victim awareness, which is something while deeply regrettable is refreshing.

“His shame and remorse is noticeable.

“He is also very aware of the fact that this is not normal behaviour, this is not a distortion in his own mind.

“He recognises he would benefit from the more detailed programme and extensive offenders programme and welcomes the opportunity to engage with that.

“He has a clear understanding of the antisocial nature of his offending and it’s not something he wishes to perpetrate going forward.

“He’s looking for help.”

Responding to this plea, judge Alex Wright said: “You recognise the impact on your victims but its troubling that nonetheless you went on and committed the offences.

“Because of the previous offences recorded against you I have to consider whether to impose a sentence.

“It’s necessary to impose an extended sentence to protect the public and specifically young children and young girls.”
