Six people which included four children required hospital treatment after a house in Aylesbury was set on fire.

At around 1am today [Monday, August 2], the front door of a property in York Place was set alight whilst the occupants were inside.

A man and a woman, who are aged in their 30s, along with the four children which include three boys and a girl, all suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for treatment.

They have since all been discharged.

As a result, Thames Valley Police have launched an arson investigation as they appeal for information from the public.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Samuel Summers of Aylesbury CID, said: “This is a concerning incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning.

“All of the victims suffered from smoke inhalation which required hospital treatment, but this incident could have been even more serious had they not managed to escape from the property.

“At this stage, we have not got any identified suspects, but we are naturally determined to ascertain who was responsible for this attack.

“Understandably, this incident will have caused some considerable concern in the local community, but I would like to reassure the public that we are conducting a thorough investigation.
