Up to 450 new homes, a primary school and a community building are being planned as part of a huge new development in Beaconsfield.

Beeches Park would be the name of the new housing estate along the A355 Amersham Road in Beaconsfield that is being proposed by The Portman Estate if it goes ahead.

The site is next to the currently unused and unfinished relief road and the Wilton Park estate which is being developed by Inland Homes.

According to a new website that has been set up to promote the plans, up to 450 homes, a “local centre”, community facilities, sports and recreation pitches with changing facilities and land for a new primary and pre-school could be provided.

Savills is said to be applying for outline planning permission to develop the site on behalf of The Portman Estate.

Their vision for the site includes open spaces, woodland and parkland, sports pitches, connections to Beaconsfield Railway Station by foot and by bike, community facilities and around 450 “high quality” homes in a mixture of sizes.

They say around 40 per cent of the new homes would be released at a discount to the local market rate and there will be an opportunity to self-build there too.

Giles Wordsworth from Savills, which is acting on behalf of the developers, said Beaconsfield “desperately needs new homes” and more affordable housing.

He said: “Over the past decades, new housing developments in this area have only delivered an average of eight per cent affordable housing – we are committed to 40 per cent.

“Beeches Park, to the east of Beaconsfield, is a highly suitable location and our proposal will create a great new place to live of which the whole town can be proud.”

There would be one primary street through the middle of the site, with access to the site largely from the relief road to the east of the development.

There will be no traffic access onto Minerva Way, which links to the already heavily congested London End roundabout.

The allocation of the site – which is currently fields – was included in the Chiltern and South Bucks Local Plan, which has since been withdrawn, and developers say this shows the area would be ideal for new homes.

The Beaconsfield Society says it has requested a meeting with the developers for more information about this “massive new proposal” for the town.
