Buckinghamshire Council deals with thousands of planning applications every year, from cutting back trees to building hundreds of homes.

Each week, we take a look at some of the most interesting plans that have been submitted.

Here are the top five from the week beginning August 2.

1. Site Of Former Sports Centre, Marlow Hill, High Wycombe - Construction of Porsche Centre and Bentley dealership

New Porsche and Bentley dealerships could be built in High Wycombe on the site of a former sports centre.

Dealership Developments Ltd, of Warwick, has submitted planning application for the undeveloped site of the former leisure centre, at Handy Cross, on Marlow Hill.

Plans detail the ‘construction of a two-storey (3,935 sqm) building for use as a Porsche Centre, a two-storey (1,655 sqm) building for use as a Bentley dealership, and a single-storey (492 sqm) building for use as a car preparation workshop’.

The new scheme will also feature showrooms and sales areas, an MOT testing facility, offices, and 263 parking spaces (combined).

Opening hours will be Monday to Friday, 7am-7pm, Saturday, 8am-6pm, and Sunday and Bank Holidays, 11am-4pm.

It will also create 88 new jobs.

2. London House 85, London Road, High Wycombe – Extension to build 12 additional bedrooms with new main entrance

The existing building is four storeys in height with 42 bedroom suites, six communal kitchen areas and nine car parking spaces for student accommodation.

New proposed plans would see 12 more bedroom suites created by infill of the existing building at ground floor level with the height of the building remaining unchanged.

The site is located at the junction of London Road and Queen’s Road to the East of High Wycombe town centre.

A recent application to build 12 additional bedrooms was refused in March 2021 but Tenergy Developments Ltd have re-submitted the plans after addressing the issue.

3. Tithe Barn, Lake End Road - Formation of tennis court

Alpine Venture LTD have submitted a planning application to build a domestic tennis court in the Grade II listed home.

The barn was converted into a family home and is often used by guests or functions with the owners hoping to that the tennis court will improve the leisure facilities.

The tennis court will have no lighting and will be an artificial grass court.

4. The Parade, Desborough Avenue, High Wycombe: Change of use from retail to restaurant/takeaway

The Parade in Desborough Avenue could have a new place to eat or grab a takeaway after the proposed plans were submitted to the council.

Currently vacant the shop was last used as a domestic appliances supply and repair.

The parade provides local services including a convenience store, newsagent, picture framing shop and a hairdressers.

As part of the proposals an extraction vent ducting system is proposed,

The opening hours will be 0900hrs to 2300hrs, it is envisaged that the busiest times will be between 12:00hrs and 15:00hrs and 19:00hrs and 22:00hrs.

Customers will principally eat and drink off-site, however a small area for seating will be provided within.

5. Crosby House, Furlong Road, Bourne End - Conversion of existing roofspace to create 5 flats

The application prepared by John Phillips Planning Consultancy looks for approval to create 5 flats in the roofspace of Crosby House.

Crosby House is a purpose-built office building within a development of similar buildings permitted in the late 1980s.

In October 2020 under application reference 20/07836/PNP30 for change of use of the ground and first floors of Crosby House from offices to flats to create 16 flats and the Council granted unconditional prior approval.

The works have not yet started but the applicant is intending to create 16 flats and implement the permission.

Now the applicant is hoping to make better use of the existing roofspace to create additional residential units.
