A Pride march and fundraising event will be taking place in High Wycombe next week.

On Saturday 21 August, an event in the town centre will celebrate and help raise awareness for the LGBTQ community.

Starting at 12pm in Frogmoor, a march will take to the streets, finishing at Paul's Row.

In Paul's Row a number of stalls will be set up from 11am to 3pm, with local organisations, trade unions and businesses in attendance.

Speakers will also be hosted at O'Neills bar from 1.30pm with the party continuing there into the afternoon.

The event is free and open to all. People who want to come are encourged to bring their friends and their own placards for the march.

The event will also be raising money for the charity Mermaids, which supports young transgender people and their families.

Annette Pryce, chair of High Wycombe Pride, said: "The past year and a half has been difficult on our community whether they are young or old if they've been living at home they may have been stuck locked down with unsupportive parents and families.

"These spaces for them to be themselves and celebrate are ever more important."
