Buckinghamshire Council deals with thousands of planning applications every year, from cutting back trees to building hundreds of homes.

Each week, we take a look at some of the most interesting plans that have been submitted.

Here are the top five from the week beginning August 9.

1. Phoenix House & Park House Business Centre, Desborough Park Road, High Wycombe - Construction of detached building for staff recreation use at Phoenix House

The High Wycombe offices, Phoenix House, are looking to build a staff recreation building.

The wellbeing building will consist of a staff tea room, gym and yoga area.

In the application, it says “landscaped areas shall include all the new trees the shrubs and the hard, the soft landscape components and any other elements.”

Also included in the plans is the building of a linked overflow carpark.

2. Victoria House 28 - 32, Desborough Street, High Wycombe, HP11 2NF - Creating 6 new 1 and 2 bed flats, each with their own private amenity space, at 3rd floor level.

This proposal relates to Victoria House, which is a three-storey office building dating from the late 20th Century.

The plans look to create six new one and two-bed flats, each with its own private amenity space on the 3rd-floor level.

It also looks to make enhancements to the existing building to “improve its relationship with its surroundings”.

A cycle store has already been proposed at the rear of the existing building, approved as part of planning application ref 20/07187/FUL

There has also been a refuse and recycling storage area which has been proposed and approved at the rear of the existing building, approved as part of planning application ref 20/07187/FUL.

3. The Apple Orchard, High Street, West Wycombe, HP14 3AG - Change of use of first floor from retail showroom to coffee shop

The Apple Orchard is looking to change one of its retail showrooms into a coffee shop

A family-run business that was established in 1988 The Apple Orchard is based in West Wycombe with numerous showrooms housed in two wonderful 17th-century buildings.

The shop sells fine furniture and rare, intriguing gifts.

No alteration, building or construction as the rooms that are currently a showroom for displaying furniture become the furniture that my customers will sit on.

A small serving area was created back in 2018 when the coffee area was first started but is now being expanded.

4. 1 Cumbrian Way, High Wycombe, HP13 5RY - Conversion of existing garage and to create a separate studio apartment and additional family

The application site is for 1 Cumbrian Way, High Wycombe which is located in the southeast region within Downley.

It is proposed to convert the existing garage and store facility with a balcony over to create a separate studio apartment and additional family room along with alterations to the fenestration and associated parking and amenity space

The existing dwelling will remain as a five-bed with part of the converted garage retained for the host dwelling to be used as a family room.

The studio will have an area of 37 sqm and will comprise an open plan kitchen, dining, living, and sleeping area with a shower room and built-in storage.

It will also have direct access to the private patio area.

5. Mudds Bank Farm, Water End, Stokenchurch, HP14 3XH - Temporary rural workers dwelling

A planning application has been submitted for a rural worker’s dwelling for a temporary period of 3 years in connection with the new equestrian enterprise at Mudds Bank.

The proposal seeks permission to build the dwelling in order to satisfy the need for a rural worker to reside permanently at the site to maintain the welfare of the horses kept on the property.

The dwelling will be a timber cabin and mobile home which will include a living area with kitchen and dining facilities along with two bedrooms and a bathroom.

The new equestrian enterprises will comprise 15 horses and 15 stables.
