The first court hearing for a man accused of causing the deaths of two popular cyclists in Wycombe has taken place.

On Friday, a lawyer representing Clifford Rennie, aged 60, attended Wycombe Magistrates’ Court. Rennie faces two charges of causing death by careless driving.

In June 2020, cyclists Damien Natale, 52, and Andrew Coles, 56, were involved in a fatal crash with a Volkswagen Golf on the A40 Wycombe Road in Studley Green.

The two friends were believed to be travelling home to Haddenham when the collision took place.

More than a year after the fatal smash, Rennie was charged with causing their deaths.

At the brief hearing on Friday, Rennie's solicitor and a prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service agreed that Rennie would appear on October 14, where he will have the opportunity to plead guilty or not guilty to the two charges.

The hearing was then adjourned.
