A driver who was caught speeding at more than 100mph has avoided a driving ban due to the “impact” it would have on students at the college where he works.

Graham Hill, 57, appeared at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on July 7 where he was charged with speeding.

The court heard how on March 17, Hill, of Village Street in Leamington Spa, was driving a Saab on the M40 between Junction 11 and Junction 12 at 104mph. The speed limit is 70mph.

Appearing before magistrates in Wycombe, Hill was found guilty and fined £510.

However, despite the extreme speed he was driving at, the magistrates opted not to ban him from driving due to his job working with students at a college.

A note on the court listing states: “No totting disqualification. Mitigating circumstances: The impact on students and the college where he works.”

As well as the £510 fine, Hill was also ordered to pay £141 costs and his driving record was endorsed with six points.
