An investigation into the death of a barmaid who died in a motorway crash in Bucks is still ongoing, with charges yet to be brought more than a year on.

Ana Bacanu died aged 40 at John Radcliffe Hospital in March last year after she was involved in a collision on the M25 near Langley and Iver Heath.

A pre-inquest review concerning Ms Bacanu’s death took place at Beaconsfield Coroners’ Court this morning (Wednesday).

At a previous pre-inquest review, assistant coroner Nick Graham revealed how Ms Bacanu was driving on the motorway when her vehicle came to a stop in the fast lane.

A van then collided with the back of her vehicle, and Ms Bacanu, who lived in Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire, died from the injuries that were sustained in the crash.

At the pre-inquest review today, chief coroner Crispin Butler provided an update on the police investigation, telling the court how it was still ongoing, but charges had yet to be brought.

He said: “There’s an ongoing police investigation. I am not aware of any homicide charges or any individual appearing in court to face such charges.”

He also advised that the police had not asked him to suspend his coronial investigation.

Mr Butler told the court that the hearing would be adjourned to December 9 for a further pre-inquest review.
