After months of roadworks, a new roundabout on a busy road has finally been completed.

To deal with an influx of hundreds of new homes on Abbey Barn Lane in High Wycombe and improve safety, developers Berkeley Homes agreed to build a new three-arm roundabout at the Abbey Barn Lane and Heath End Road junction.

Both Heath End Road and Abbey Barn Lane are used as a cut-through to east Wycombe from the M40 by drivers, but there have been a string of crashes and serious incidents there over the years.

Work to convert the junction into a roundabout started back in April and just finished at the weekend with a full road closure for the final touches to be put in place.

It is hoped that the new roundabout will encourage drivers to go at slower speeds along Heath End Road, which is a national speed limit road.

Berkley Homes were given permission to build up to 550 new homes on Abbey Barn Lane in July 2019.

As part of a huge overhaul of Abbey Barn Lane, there are also plans to add a roundabout at the bottom of Kingsmead Road and Abbey Barn Lane, as well as a realignment of the road.
