A High Wycombe man who stole nearly £2,000 from his employer has been jailed.

Owais Ali, 20, of Bushey Close in High Wycombe, was locked up for two months after he admitted to stealing £1,935 in cash from The Fragrance Shop in Aylesbury, where he worked.

Appearing at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on July 28, the court heard how Ali took the money from the shop in Friars Square.

Pleading guilty to a charge of theft by employee, Ali admitted that he stole the cash between December 9, 2019 and December 25, 2019.

He also admitted to a charge of receiving stolen goods, having been in possession of a stolen moped which was valued at £2,800 on July 18, 2018 in Great Missenden.

Ali was sentenced to one month in prison for receiving stolen goods, and two months for the theft. The two sentences will run concurrently, meaning he will serve two months in total.

He was also ordered to pay £128 costs.
