A man who was caught in High Wycombe with an arsenal of weapons including a “stealth” knife and several “Rambo” knives has avoided going to jail.

Mark Buchanan, aged 54, was caught in Crest Road with a stash of dangerous weapons on August 5, but avoided going to prison due to “strong personal mitigation.”

Officers found in his possession a black “stealth” knife, four “Rambo” knives, and a blue hunting knife.

Rambo knives typically have a long straight blade with one serrated edge, similar to the weapon used by Sylvester Stallone when he played John Rambo in the film First Blood.

At Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on August 23, Buchanan pleaded guilty to two knife possession charges.

Buchanan, of North Station Road in Colchester, was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months – a note attached to court listing states the sentence was suspended due to “strong personal mitigation”.

Magistrates also told him to pay £213 costs and ordered for the weapons to be destroyed.
