A woman who tried to get on a train without paying for a £5 ticket has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds.

Michelle Grange, 38, of Copyground Lane in High Wycombe, attempted to travel between Aylesbury and High Wycombe on September 14 last year.

After failing to buy a £5.60 ticket, Grange boarded the train and attempted to make the journey. She will now have to pay £369.60 in fines and costs.

At Oxford Magistrates’ Court on June 4, Grange was found guilty of boarding a train without a valid ticket in her absence.

The magistrates ordered that she pay a £220 fine, £134 costs and £5.60 in compensation.
