Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth praised the Morecambe fans that made the trip down to Adams Park on Saturday.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead, the Shrimps lost 4-3 with Curtis Thompson bagging an injury-time winner to keep Wanderers in the play-off places.

The round trip of 456 miles will be a bitter one to take for the travelling Shrimp army, but the boss was complimentary of their support.

Ainsworth said: “The Morecambe fans were superb along with the Morecambe team.

“They have legendary support.

“I know that being at the bottom of League Two when we were, we where this small club at the away fans were vital for us, and they got us through some times.

“Morecambe’s fans were brilliant.

“They sang, they got behind the team and I made a special point in going over to see them afterwards because it is a long way to come and I think they will be OK in League, but I am pleased the day belonged to us."

Wycombe have now beaten Morecambe 10 times in the 19 matches they have played each other.
