A former pupil of Wycombe High School will feature in a quartet of young professional musicians playing in Marlow.

Wallis Power plays as the cellist and comes from a highly talented family with her uncle being the celebrated viola player Lawrence Power and founder of the annual West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival.

The Brompton Quartet is comprised of musicians from Slovenia, UK, South Korea and Poland and will play at the Christ Church URC at 7.30 pm on Saturday (October 9).

They were winners at the 2019 St Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition, selected as Park Lane Group Artists for 2020 and recently made their debut at Wigmore Hall, London.

Martin Ashford, for Music in Marlow, said: "The quartet were due to play for us in the week that lockdown began last year.

"So this event has been a long time coming - but we are absolutely delighted to have four rising stars of the music world performing at our venue.

"Their programme includes string quartets by Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert and Prokofiev, all written when those composers were at the height of their powers.

"It is sure to be a real crowd pleaser - but we will be limiting capacity to ensure good distancing in the venue, so advance booking is highly recommended."

Tickets for the concert are £15 and can be bought from www.ticketsource.co.uk/musicinmarlow or by phoning 01628 486227.
