A large fire has broken out at a village hotel and wedding venue tonight.

The fire is on the premises of the Kings Hotel in Oxford Road, Stokenchurch, which has only just recently undergone refurbishment.

The hotel is cordoned off with a number of fire crews on site trying to contain the blaze.

The flames can be seen above the building, with thick plumes of smoke. A number of surrounding roads have been shut.

Thames Valley Police are on the scene assisting fire crews and say everyone in the hotel has been accounted for and no one is injured.

They said: "We are urging the public to avoid the area and those in the immediate vicinity to keep windows and doors closed while the incident is being dealt with."

The historic family-run hotel dates back to the 16th century and is a popular wedding venue.

MP for the area Rob Butler said: "Very concerned to hear about the fire at the King's Head in Stokenchurch, but relieved to know everyone is safe. Please heed emergency services' requests as they deal with this difficult situation."

More as we get it.
