A teenage girl was “verbally abused” and received “sexual threats” from two men on a bus in Bucks.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the victim was verbally abused by two offenders on public transport on Wednesday.

The victim had boarded the X5 Cambridge to Oxford bus at Milton Keynes bus station between 5pm and 5.56pm, and went to sit on the top deck.

Two men on the top deck were being loud and acting anti-socially. When the victim asked them to stop as it was distressing other passengers, they started verbally abusing her.

The offenders used derogatory language towards the victim and made sexual threats towards her.

When the bus was near Buckingham, the victim went downstairs to tell the bus driver what had happened. He advised her to get off the bus and went to speak to the men, who proceeded to abuse him too.

After the victim got off the bus at Buckingham High Street, the men followed and continued to abuse her.

She phoned the police, and when they came and arrested the men, one of them kicked and spat at the officers. They also abused members of the public while they were being arrested.

No one was harmed in the incident, but police have urged any witnesses to the event to come forward and assist with their inquiries.

Following the incident, a 25-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of using threatening or abusive words to cause fear or alarm, and resisting arrest.  A 26-year-old man from Peterborough was also arrested on suspicion of using threatening or abusive words to cause fear or alarm, and assaulting a police officer.

Both men have been released under investigation.

Investigating officer PC Ross Acland, based at Aylesbury police station, said: “The behaviour of these men caused distress to the victim and those on the bus.

“We have arrested two men in connection with this incident, but we are appealing for the public’s assistance in our investigation.

“We would ask anyone who was on the X5 bus between Milton Keynes and Buckingham High Street, to please get in touch if they witnessed this incident.

“Additionally we are also asking for anyone with information in relation to the incident on Buckingham High Street, where the two men continued to abuse the victim, to come forward.

“Anyone with information should call 101 or go online quoting reference 43210462267.”
