A man has died following a house fire in Bucks today.

Several fire engines rushed to The Green, in Chearsley, at 3.41am this morning after receiving multiple calls about a severe fire.

When the fire crews arrived they found that a two story, detached house was “fully involved” in fire.

At least three fire engines were needed on the scene, two from Aylesbury and one from Oxford, and an aerial appliance from Oxford was also required to help put out the inferno.

Four fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus went inside the house to attempt to fight the fire and to search for anyone inside the building.

A man was found dead inside the house. He has yet to be identified.

Investigations are continuing to be carried out by a fire investigation team, which remains on the scene.

Thames Valley Police officers were also called to the scene at around 3.45am and closed the main road through Chearsley while the fire raged. The road was reopened at around 9am.
