Armed police were needed to stop a car thief after they were spotted at a Beaconsfield petrol station.

On Thursday evening, officers spotted a Ford Focus which was known to have been stolen in a burglary in London.

After the vehicle had failed to stop for police officers multiple times around the Thames Valley, armed officers were on hand in Beaconsfield to ensure they did not make a break for it this time around.

At the Beaconsfield Services petrol station, the thief was greeted by armed response officers, roads policing officers and neighbourhood police.

The vehicle has now been recovered for its owner.
