KFC has confirmed that it will be opening its new Amersham branch before Christmas.

The chicken fast-food giant is moving into a former high street bank, Llyods TSB, on Sycamore Road, opening its doors for the first time in December.

Around 50 jobs will be created with KFC already looking for members to join their team.

A KFC spokesperson said: “Yep, you heard right - it’s not only Santa who will be coming to town this December!

"We’ll be winging our way to Amersham just in time for some festive cheer, bringing with us 50 new local jobs and your favourite fried chicken.

"We’re big fans of the local area and can’t wait to settle in!”

The new branch will be open between 11am and 11pm, seven days a week.

However, not all locals are excited by the new arrival with Buckinghamshire Council receiving 12 letters of objections to the fast-food restaurant's planning application.

The objections focused on concerns that it would cause problems with loss of retail, waste disposal, an increase in foot traffic, an increase in local crime rates and the chicken restaurant being of no benefit to the community.

There were positive reactions with some believing the increased footfall will actually mean more people will be on Amersham high street as well as the extra jobs created.

The Lloyds TSB branch closed in June 2020 and after being vacant for over a year locals will soon be able to get their hands on 'Finger Lickin' Good' chicken.
