A new photo appears to show the "fake gun" that sparked panic in a busy High Wycombe shopping centre this afternoon.

The imitation firearm appears to have been discarded underneath one of Eden Shopping Centre's colouful benches near MenKind, while an Eden staff member stands guard and police officers gather nearby.

The alleged sight of a man with a gun prompted 999 calls this afternoon, with around "40 or 50" police officers swooping on the scene and shops shutting their doors with customers inside to keep them safe.

A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm and is in custody. Police said the firearm is not thought to have been viable and therefore there is no wider risk to the public.
