Dozens of officers descended on the High Wycombe shopping centre on Wednesday 10 November after receiving reports that a man had been seen with a gun in the area.

After arriving on the scene, police arrested a man on suspicion of being in possession of an imitation firearm.

Police have since confirmed that the suspect has been released under investigation and enquiries into the incident are still ongoing.

Following the arrest, police assured the public that no one was injured in the incident and that there was no serious threat as the weapon was "not viable".

A police spokesman said: "No one was injured and no threats were made.

"At this stage we believe that the gun is not viable and most likely a toy so there was no wider threat to the public.

"We would like to thank the public and those involved following this incident for their co-operation."
