Drivers experienced severe delays on the morning commute today – probably owing to a series of roadworks in High Wycombe.

Long queues were seen on West Wycombe Road, in the town centre, and along the London Road (A40) this morning, as various temporary traffic lights in the area slowed traffic almost to a halt.

Drivers were also seen queueing all the way back through West Wycombe, well past the rail under-bridge on the A4010.

Transport for Bucks (TfB), and Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) are among those working in the town.

On West Wycombe Road SSE have put up temporary lights near the Mill End Road turning while works happen between November 15-19.

While on Mill End Road itself, Bucks Council are carrying out roadworks between November 15-16, also using lights.

SSE also have lights up at Hughenden Road for work between November 11-17.

Bucks Council have enforced a road closure for highway maintenance between Lucas Road and Castle Street on Amersham Hill.

Similar surfacing works will affect Castle Street and Corporation Street until December 24.

Lights are also in place on the London Road near the Trinity United Reformed Church and opposite The Rye.
