A father of two from High Wycombe is raising money for Stokenchurch Primary School by taking part in a mixed martial arts event.

Martin Thorne hasn't fought for two years after becoming a full-time dad, with his youngest son Tommy receiving help from an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) programme in school.

The fighter, who currently holds the WCMMA 66kg championship title and trains in High Wycombe, has decided to make his comeback this Saturday (November 20) at The Willows in Chigwell to raise money for the school.

Martin is looking to raise £1000 and is currently roughly halfway to achieving that target.

Martin said: "This event is for a cause close to my heart and raising awareness around venerable children and their mental health.

"The effects of trauma in children at a young age may not be visible at early stages but my son's school has an ELSA program which helps vulnerable children and helps them to express their emotions from early stages in their childhood.

"There are limited resources and funds to this and to show my gratitude to Stockenchurch Primary School with their commitment and help with my son I am raising money to give back what was freely given to my son.

"Every donation will make a difference and will go towards having a positive impact in changing a child's life."
